Today we flew from Quito to San Cristóbal in the Galapagos.
We had purchased our tickets via Cheapoair.com, each paying around $215 for one-way tickets. This is the same we would have paid if we had flown from Quito to Santa Cruz, say to meet a cruise we had booked.

What to say about the Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu. It’s one of the more relatively active ways to get from Cuzco to Machu Picchu. It involves hiking on the famous “Inca Trail to Machu Picchu”, but does not require a 6-month reservation to do it. It’s extremely fun, and if you get lucky with the pricing, it’s cheaper than taking the train. Read more

Though we’ve been in Baños for over a week, we hadn’t really seen any of the attractions yet. We did go on an ill-fated volcano tour, but we really wanted to see the waterfalls here, after enjoying rooftop views of the one here in town.

Ok. So back in Texas, I’m not big on salad. I’m more of a steak fajitas with melted butter kind of guy. It actually kind of annoys me that they give me little side salads with so many meals, it just seems wasteful.
However, when traveling, I find that I start craving the stuff. Right now I’m on a tour of ecuadorian beach towns, which has meant lots of delicious seafood, mostly fried with rice, almost like paella. This stuff is delicious. Read more
